The Seven Steps to Happiness
In Yoga, we have blueprint for happiness.
I was recently reminded about these steps while holding space for several practitioners at my healing center in California. There can often be confusion around how to serve others and balance that with “following our bliss” or “following our heart”. Often times, our “bliss” is really just an escape mechanism rooted in unconscious patterning that may lead to temporary feelings of joy but not the longterm progress or maturity that brings a stable sense of happiness. I have found that the following guidepost of steps has served me well over my 25 years of service as a yoga teacher, spaceholder and acupuncturist. The wisdom of the passageway continues to bring forth new insight each time I revisit it.
The steps in synopsis:
Commitment leads to character (integrity). Character leads to dignity. Dignity leads to divinity. Divinity leads to grace. Grace allow us to sacrifice (surrender). And Sacrifice brings us to true happiness.
As healers and spaceholders, we take our commitments to heart. Our clients, patients, and students are held in the highest space within ourselves. They are our dharma. And by honoring each one, seeing the light and healing in each progressive action, we all move toward wholeness. It is…
